About Us
The Whangarei Malayalee Association is a registered Inc. Society serving the needs of the Malayalee Community (People who hail from Kerala, the southernmost state of Kerala, India) and the wider community here. Although gatherings of the community started as early as 2013, it was only in 2016 that the group was formally registered into a society. Our community in Whangarei is growing at a steady pace, with the majority working in the Whangarei hospital and Healthcare sectors. We aim to provide a platform for the Malayalees to promote Social, cultural, charitable, educational, and literary activities and to organize cooperative and charitable activities in the general interest and well-being of the Malayalees in Whangarei and with the wider community here.
Whangarei Quarry Gardens is a lush subtropical oasis created by volunteers, in the remnants of a former stone quarry in Northland. Only moments from SH1, the Gardens are a wonderful place to break up the long journey North. .
Here at Kiwi North you can learn about the unique kiwi and observe natural behaviour in the purpose built state-of-the-art enclosure. Also see New Zealand's living dinosaur the Tuatara, and our indigenous Gecko.
Water Falls is located in Whangarei Scenic Reserve. The classic curtain waterfall is part of the Hatea River and the well-maintained Scenic Reserve make this waterfall one of New Zealand Must See Waterfalls.
